THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS !!

I am sending this to virtually everybody on my e-mail list and that includes conservatives, liberals, and everybody in between. Even though we disagree on a number of issues, I count all of you as friends.  My friend and neighbor wants to promote a "Congressional Reform Act of 2010". It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I know many of you will say, "this is impossible."  Let me remind you, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress - the entity that represents us.

We need to get a Senator to introduce this bill in the U.S. Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar bill in the  U.S. House.  These people will become American heroes.

Thanks,

A Fellow American

.Congressional Reform Act of 2010

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

(and of course – then 8 years in the White House)

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

2.  No Tenure / No Pension :

    A
member of Congress collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when he/she leaves office.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.  Today Congressmen get  $172,000 a year each on average.

3.  Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, server your term(s), then go home and back to work.  Today, Congress has its own retirement plan that pays 100% of the last three years average monthly pay, as monthly retirement pay, after just 5 years of service, while allowing retirement with this full pay at age 50.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans do.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional House pay will be the average wage paid across America to the average American.  Senators get twice that number.  Housing and meals for Congress are provided for free at Fort Myer with Marine security.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

6. Congress loses their current private, personal health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people have
(or get), with ALL military hospitals across America opened to the public.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.  Today Congress gets all it medical health care for free.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they write and impose on the American people – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    Neither
the American people nor the Constitution provided these insane privileges to the congress, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves, and have been helping themselves to our “lunch” ever since.

TERMINATE THE RULING CLASS !

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

If you agree with the above, pass it on to all in your address list.

If not, in my opinion, you haven’t thought it through very well.

The time is NOW

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC.

"You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people

demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail,cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1)

year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of

those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.  All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social

Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American

people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void

Effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen

legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message.

Don't you think it's time?
