SLICKBAR’s floating lagoon baffles are specifically designed to increase water retention. By doing this, we improve the pond’s efficiency, aid cooling, settling of solids, scum control, and reduce overall energy costs. Our baffle systems are used in municipal waste water, potable water applications, industrial processing, pulp & paper mills, power generating stations, and in-tank applications. Slickbar’s baffles are manufactured with "top-of-the-line" components which are backed by a 10 year pro-rated warranty.

Slickbar baffles have three major advantages over the competition:

Flotation:

We utilize durable, externally, mounted solid-molded polyethylene foam flotation, which is manufactured by an exclusive process developed by Slickbar. Ultra-violet and oxidation inhibitors are incorporated in the foam for durability and extended life. Other manufacturer designs use rotationally molded foam filled shells that tend to crack in extreme temperatures, are not impact resistant and do not provide sufficient buoyancy. Some designs use an inexpensive foam log which easily deform, hold debris and lose their shape if "trapped" with ice.

Tension Member:

Slickbar utilizes synthetic paralay tension members which are enclosed within welded fabric pockets at the top edge of the baffle and just below the flotation. This type of tension member stretches exactly the same way as the polyester fibers within the baffle fabric. They take external forces and tensions together, thus enhancing the strength of the entire baffle system. Other designs either rely completely on the strength of the fabric or use metallic cables that do not stretch the same way as the fabric which results in "chaffing" of the baffle fabric.

Anchor System:

Slickbar baffles use surface intermediate anchor systems which are perpendicularly attached to the baffle connections to minimize side wind, current tensions and bowing of the baffle. Other designs utilize external concrete weights attached to the bottom edge of the skirt and through our years of experience we feel this places undue local high stress concentration on the fabric’s bottom edge. Also, these weights are not positioned to resist the typical forces that baffles experience in the field which is primarily wind on the surface of the water.
